Murder in Ottley Hall!

Alvisha Browne, shot to death

Alvisha Browne, shot to death

A nineteen-year old mother of three was shot to death in Ottley Hall on Wednesday night ( January 4, 2012). Alvisha Browne, affectionately known as Micey received several shots to her head at close range. She died on the spot.

The shooting death of Ms Browne is the second such incident to have occurred since the beginning of the new year. A young man is still at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital nursing gun shot wounds he received within the first hour of the dawning of the new year. It is not clear whether the two incidents are related.

The police are investigating these latest incidents. Meanwhile, several Vincentians have expressed their concerns and condemnation of the acts of violence that have so far marked the start of 2012.

This is indeed shameful. Can anyone say whether there have been any more murders or fatal accidents traffic in SVG for 2012? I hope it does not get as bad as some other larger Caribbean countries.

Here we go again, this vincy kalaloo site is really going too too far now ana ,where is the respect for people even the dead, where is the respect for the greiving relatives of this young lady, whatever the circumstances she doesn’t deserve to have her picture plastered over the internet, vinci kalaloo i am all for free speech and expression of opinions and views but you can’t dehumanise people and disrespect them by posting their pictures with all kinds of un corruborated stories, just to get ratings, you are destroying peoples lives and hurting families deeply, you need to do the right thing if you have a conscience and stop this shit, remember what you sow that you will also reap, you are hurting people deeply and people will get fed up and take matters into their own hands, remember it very easy to find out who operating this blog,i guess u feel because there are no cyber space laws in Svg you can do anything but time longer than twine.
(Ps you keep ignoring i keep posting)

To Francene and Jan and the few others you guys seem like some small minded illiterates. And to Vincentsvg you have spoken as an educated rational being, props to you for that.
The fact still however remains that a 19 YEAR OLD WHO WITH THREE KIDS(NOW MOTHERLESS) HAS BEEN MURDERED,WHAT PART OF THAT SHOULD BE TAKEN LIGHTLY AND BE ACCEPTED AS JUST ONE MURDER IN THE country as opposed to other countries? No one is saying that America, Canada, UK or where ever else doesn’t have crime. People are more focused on there homeland and what they would like to see worked on or improved. SOMEONE SAYING THAT THEY ARE FEARFUL OF RETURNING TO THEIR HOMELAND,should not be an issue. That’s how the person feel and others may and will share the same sentiments. Everyone is focusing on the fact that someone say they are fearful of returning to their homeland, and attacking that person for that small statement just shows how small minded ‘SOME’ Vincentians are, there is a pic of an obviously dead teenager who left 3 small kids to mourn and possibly suffer and this is only the beginning of the leap year, and yet the focus is on one line that someone commented due to feAR..

  5. All of u who so-call vincentian who talking about not going to vincy behaving like alyo is canadian and americans alyo do something wrong in the ppl dem country alyo wll see where they will send alyo ( never say never)crime is every seems like a lot of u dont watch the news where u at…and for the record there is no place better than HOME

  6. Whereas on occasion I certainly question the approach of this website, this is not one such occasion.

We sometimes need to be confronted with such semiotics in order to fully appreciate the very real consequences of crime in SVG.

    Something must be done!

Why would anyone who claims to have any sense in media reporting post this horrific photo of this dead woman who died in such an evil way? Why not find a posting of her in better times so she can be remembered in a good way. Shame on whoever posted this messed up photo. You should be punished for your utter stupidity. ):

CD how could any one wants to invest in St, Vincent when these kind of crimes are going on, frankly, I would love to retire in the country I was born and I know that once I am happly living in St. Vincent I would be able to offer a person or two a job Good God I am scared to death when this kind of madness is going on in my country where my navel string was buried, this is about me hurting for my country people what part of that can’t you figure out I am sure that there is a lot of people who wants to live in St, Vincent and be fruitful to the country, how could they under this kind of madness.

I beg you please stay where you are dont come back. the roads are too small for you, we dont have any malls or burger king. you will just waste your money and people do get killed here unlike anywhere else in the world. Please stay where you are.

I visit St. Lucia regurlary becuase of work and i am currently here within the first few days of the new year there were a number of shootings that resulted in about 3 or 4 deaths an i have yet to hear anyone say “please John stay where you are dont come back”. Rodney is still packed with Tourist and life goes on. so i dont know what all the huff and puff is about.

      • Lorne has sensible and salient points even echoed by the P.M. Even though I get annoyed whenever we treat these returning vincentians like deities, I am still obliged to acknowledge their contribution to our development. In fact, remittances earn us more in revenue than banana or manufacturing. The diaspora play its role externally making thousands of micro-investment that add up from without, as we play ours building our country from within.

Let me also add that it is quite legitimate given the inundation of crime and murder in particular, ANY VINCY ABROAD WILL EXPRESS HESITATION VIS-A-VIS RETURNING! IT’S NATURAL.

And for CD, the economy is hard in every part of the world, but thank God I am living some where, drives a paid for pick up truck, pay my bills and I have God to thank for it, some people might have less, but no matter how little we have, honey, always give the almighty God thanks, can’t take nothing from this earth with you when you are gone, this world is just a temporary place that we are living in and satan is moving to and fro to see who he could win.

All of you who think that St. Vincent is above criticism when they do bull crap like this and people keep missing all over St.Vincent don’t bawl when the next murderer blow out your mother, father, sister, brother, son, daugher, aunty, uncle, grand parents, cousin, and friend’s brain. St. Vincent is my country just as much as yours so I wants to see better for my country.

  12. Posted by cd on January 5, 2012 at 7:50 pm

Wow this is highly inappropriate. But for those who say they don’t want to return that is your choice, Saint.Vincent is a beautiful Country and am a proud Vincy but take a look around us S.V.G is not the only country that the murder rate is high. Instead of us Vincy Americans and Vincy Canadians bashing our country try to help out and invest in your Country. I’ve travelled the world and I have seen that the same people who BASH their Country are the ones living overseas in small apartments, hardly can pay their bills, hardly can eat because the don’t have any job because they are their illegally and that is very disappointing. p.s this picture should be taken down!! what if this was your sister?

  13. Posted by Lorne on January 5, 2012 at 5:49 pm

Mr. John. count all the millions of people living in the united states and count how many people are living in the Island of St.Vincent with the rate of crimes in a little country with just a little over a hundred thousand people, you dawmn right I would rather stay where the hell I am at. St. Vincent is my home but is hooligans like you are keeping good people out of their own country with this kind of crimes..

when the lawyer shot and killed his wife infront of the police station on carnival monday morning and got five years i didnt hear anyone complaining that they not coming back to SVG. it doesnt matter if you have 100000 people or 10 billion, one murder is one to much but that dont mean that i going OMG my country is the worst i aint going back.

Tell me a Jamaican or Trini who you ever hear say that.

  14. Posted by lost on January 5, 2012 at 4:09 pm

i feel you lorne, its quite scary,i understand why you would feel scared about being back in svg,i personally dont see what the whole argument is about just cause someone say, the ”WANT” to think twice about going back home,is the person not allowed to feel scared and express herself? and peace whomever he/she is sounds like an under averaged educated deportee who wants everyone to suffer.muder doe happen everywhere but its morescary when it hits home, knowing svg is a small island and the increase in crime and the way its done would scare anyone.

  15. Posted by Lorne on January 5, 2012 at 3:59 pm

Yes Jamal, St. Vincent was a very nice place to live, remember the days as a child when I could have gone any where and not have to worry, now even in your own house you are not safe, a new generation of hooligans arise destroying our beautiful country unless as the government enforce hanging every time some one is guilty of murder, these hooligans will continue to have no respect for man or God.

The more i visit this website is the more i want to encourage the authorities to ban this website. Ah mean seriously where is the respect for the victim and her family. this website prides itself on spreading negatives and is down right sickening.

To Lorne, yes its sickening to see a 19 year old girl being killed like that and I’m sure where you are now nothing like this ever happens. So please in order to be safe stay where you are. Please please don’t come back we don’t miss you.
