Dr Ralph E. Gonsalves

The editors, writers and regular contributors to Vinci Kallaloo have voted Dr Ralph Gonsalves as the most influential man in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for 2011. He has done the most to generate news and commentary in all forms of media during the year.

The words and deeds of Dr Gonsalves have generated extensive coverage and analysis in the newspapers, on radio, on television, and on the internet. News reporters, columnists, editors, letter writers, talk-show hosts, and callers have all found Dr Gonsalves a “favourite” topic for discussion.

On the internet, Gonsalves also attracted extensive and intensive scrutiny from the social networks, blogs and news sites. Every word, every decision and every action came for an equal amount of praise and criticism or applaud and ridicule.

Clearly, for bad or for good, Dr Ralph Gonsalves has been the most influential man in St. Vincent and the Grenadines in 2011.

    Hey Saadiss
I see you are one of Ralph supporters. Now rapist, murderers, and thieves are always mentioned in the media do we ever list them as influential?? No not even. But this man because of his political stand is allowed to rome freely and commit crimes and that makes him “INFLUENTIAL”. let see if you would feel the same way if you were one of the women being rapes or being victimise by the system that was meant to protect you. It people like you that make the Ralph’s of this world feel they can do what they do and get away with it. Next time THINK before you type do some research make a positive input so your country can move forward. And as for me I am I am quite educated..

Having your name in the media and social network does not begin to describe the word influential. The word is meant to have a powerful effect on people in a positive way. Now he has been accused of Rape, cheating an election, not being there for the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Crime is rampant and people are losing hope. He has amended the law to protect himself from being prosecuted of crimes in the future and to exclude gay people of his country. I have recently met with colleagues of Mr. Gonsalves who knew the man while he lived in Barbados where he attended communist social groups. Now if this is what the country I once loved has come to under this influential man I fail to see how my fellow Vincentian has become so blind and accepting. I would say this man should be place under LOSING HOPE.

“… the word influential. The word is meant to have a powerful effect on people in a positive way.”

Really? In a positive way? You probably was the valedictorian for Miss Muggy School Of Higher Learning, Class of 2011.

While I detest Gonsalves stewardship of SVG; there is NO DOUBT THAT HE IS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON IN SAINT VINCENT AND THE GRENADINES NOT ONLY FOR 2011 BUT FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS!

According to the dictionary;influence is defined as: the capacity or power of persons or things to be a compelling force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions, etc., of others:…Johndoe ,this definition describes precisely what you are alluding to in your post. Ralph Gonsalves influence on the lives of Vincentians is undoubtedly the most palpable in the history of our blessed land. Being influential DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEANS HAVING A POSITIVE EFFECT…yes, that is ONE POSSIBLE OUTCOME but to say that being :”influential” is MEANT to have a positive effect is clearly misinterpreting the true meaning of the word.

George Bush was listed several times as one of Time’s 100 most influential….yes that a$$hole and HITLER was named as one of HISTORY 100 most influential!

WHAT POSITIVE EFFECT DID THESE A$$HOLES BROUGHT TO THE MASSES?

But if it would make you feel any better…Sarah Palin was listed as one of Time’s most INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE OF 2011…so my question to you JOHNDOE,is, if Sarah Palin could be named as one of the most influential people in the WORLD, Why is it so hard to accept that Ralph Gonsalves is the most influential person in SVG?

By the way, I am just picking on you, bro, I am still upset about my Christmas present…Eustace promise me he would have gotten rid of Gonsalves by Christmas this year…lo and behold woke up Christmas Morning and Ralph still in office..damn! Well at least I still have my New Year’s resolution to make…lol.
