Gonsalves at his worst! By Ericka A. Ballantyne

I took the time to listen to Gonsalves on Sunday. But, I was sorely disappointed!

Ericka A. Ballantyne

As he addressed the party faithfuls at the ULP’s National Convention, I realised that I was listening to an aging tiger making his last roars. Whether in style  or substance, it was perhaps the worst that I have heard the Comrade as he addressed a party convention.

Permit me to comment on a few recurring themes in Gonsalves’s address

  1. Eustace Bashing: So, what else is new? Once again, the Comrade resorted to beating up on the Leader of the Opposition and President of the  New Democratic Party (NDP), Arnhim Eustace. He mocked and ridiculed the gentleman in the worst term possible. Perhaps, by rubbishing Eustace’s capacity and accomplishments, the Comrade would look that much better before his supporters and the country as a whole.
  2. Rehashing ULP’s Achievements: As he had always done, Gonsalves took the time to outline his party’s achievements since in office. As usual, he cited education, health, infrastructure, housing etc. Indeed, one did not have to listen the speech to hear about these. Gonslaves has repeated those in more ways that one in several a fora.  Perhaps, they were repeated again for the benefit of the party’s supporters ion attendance. They needed to be reminded of how far the ULP has come, too far to turn back now!
  3. The State of the Economy: It is on this theme that Gonsalves adopted more muted tones. He attempted to give the impression that although times are tough, SVG is not doing as bad as the IMF reports have all indicated.Yet, the Comrade could not deny that the economy is in a downward spiral.

Dr Ralph E Gonsalves- Prime Minister and Leader of the ULP

Throughout the presentation, punctuated with the usual deejay music, Gonsalves made a sterling effort to appear upbeat.  Even the intermittent applause sounded lacklustre as the delegates were probably listening to this address for the seventh time or more.

At the end of it all, Gonsalves offered nothing new to get this country out of the present morass. It was all more of the same. If anything, he succeeded in getting the few remaining ULP supporters to band tighter together as they feel the ground of governance give way under their feet.

Well as a person who love St. Vincent as my second home i can only wish for the best. I have great friends on both sides of the fence, I just hope that where ever the results go that the people put aside all that was said and come together to build the country in the way it must go.

Excellent Erica. Don’t mind those sill in denial. When the cut ass comes the same Arnhim Eustace they ridiculing will welcome them without malice. I look forward to the day change is ushered in. The roar in the tiger will turn to the purring of a pussycat.

Expertly analyzed Erika, couldn’t have said it any better. You are so correct. The sad part is that he’s doing the same thing over and over repeatedly and somehow expects a different result. This is the real definition of madness. Maybe it’s working for him or is it proof that he is just an outright blundering incompetent fool.

He truly reminds me of Nero thumping his chest at how great he is while Rome burns. I pray that God gives ST Vincent the resilience to bounce back after the tyrannical reign of Ralph Gonzalves is over. we know the end is very near.

OK, Ericka. Let’s finally have the truth now.

What is THE REAL REASON why you are a “Ralph-hater?”
