The SCL “mind-benders” working for the ULP?

Unconfirmed reports indicate the ruling Unity Labour Party (ULP) of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has contracted the public relations firm SCL to manage the party’s election campaign for the next general elections.  The SCL is the group that unsuccessfully managed the campaign of SVG’s Opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) in the elections of December 13. 2010.

Despite the loss of the NDP, the SCL still claims that they have  an unrivalled record of successfully managing election campaigns.  According to SCL’s website, they have “over 15 years unparalleled experience in election campaigns.”  They further claim that their “professional team of election experts has worked on more than 35 elections world-wide and managed some 23 election campaigns in their entirety”.  And, to date they claim ,” We have an unrivalled 100% track record in election management – we have never lost an election campaign that we have managed.”

Perhaps, the loss suffered by the NDP was not counted as an election campaign managed by the SCL.  In the mean time, sources close to the ULP have hinted that the SCL could well be at work for the ULP in upcoming elections.

SCL working for ULP?….Now that is very funny! Question: Why would the ULP employ SCL, the mind-bending PR firm that claims never to have lost an election anywhere in the world, after thrashing the same SCL firm in the 2005 elections and then beating them again in 2010 when everything was going against ULP? Julian Francis, who is no where close to the big leagues like SCL, headed the ULP election machinery, rub their noses into the dust… Would Julian and ULP all of a sudden hire these same people? You think they trying to lose elections? Come on, isnt that suggestion a very bad joke?

  3. I cannot validate this rumor, not belonging to the ULP’s informational loop, and in the absence of official party announcement.

What is certain however is that the Comrade has a long pattern of eviscerating and besmirching political opponents, and later integrating these same individuals to his camp to demoralize and discombobulate the NDP.

One can immediately cite Campbell, Bonadie, who were accused of corruption when on one side of the fence, but who are honorable men when on the other.

I still do not get the SCL controversy, the entity being a business, any party being free to acquire their services. So what if the company is foreign, how does that equate to selling out St. Vincent?

One can argue that local talent is ambient, and more acquainted to the immensely visceral nature of SVG politics (and much cheaper), and hence the NDP ought to have tapped local entities and individuals, but the ULP’s selling out arguments were deliberately misconstrued.
