Vinci Kallaloo 2012 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

19,000 people fit into the new Barclays Center to see Jay-Z perform. This blog was viewed about 140,000 times in 2012. If it were a concert at the Barclays Center, it would take about 7 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

Does Ralph Gonsalves have a sore foot?

There is a rumour on the ground that  Dr Ralph Gonsalves is suffering from a bad sore foot. Is this so?

A sore-foot is a terrible affliction. They may stem from a myriad of causes. However, as far as I know, live sores are generally associated with poverty, unhealthy practices and habits.  Other underlying conditions may also contribute to the longevity of a sore foot. Old people use to say that when a person has “bad blood”, sores (especially those on the foot) take a very long time heal. Is this the case with Dr Gonsalves.

Anesia’s Other Letter…?

Did Anesia Baptiste write a letter to Leader of the Opposition begging him to appoint her as an Opposition Senator? That is the story now making the rounds in St. Vincent. A member of the NDP’s top brass has revealed that it was Anesia who had approached Mr Eustace in search for an appointment.

If that is indeed the case, Anesia was never considered as a first pick for senator. She begged via letter for the appointment. Some in the top brass did caution Mr Eustace against appointing her. However, he gave her a chance especially since she was out of a job and Eustace was grateful for her contribution during the referendum.

Since Anesia was fired, she went on rant. Among other things, Anesia has accused Eustace of using her and dumping her. But, it appears as if Anesia was the one who used the NDP. She especially exploited the compassion of Mr Eustace for her own selfish agenda. Now that it has backfired she takes every opportunity to demonize Mr Eustace.

This young lady had endeared herself to so many. She was a breath of fresh air on the political scene in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Even her staunchest critics conceded that Anesia had the talent, the passion, the dedication and the discipline to make a political contribution to the country. She attracted several supporters along the way. But, recent events brought out certain traits in her that people have found objectionable.

Anesia’s letter and subsequent public utterances have revealed a dark, evil and nasty side to the young lady. She is dishonest, manipulative, conniving, wicked and selfish. It is good that Eustace and supporters of the NDP can now see her for who she really is.

Why doesn’t Anesia leak that letter too? After all she begged Eustace to appoint her!

William Wise, Sir FrederickBallantyne and Millenium Bank SVG

William Wise

After three years on the run, William Wise who once operated Millenium Bank in St. Vincent gave up himself to US authorities .  Wise was charged with running a  Ponzi scheme that bilked investors out of more than $75 million. He  was indicted  on 12 counts of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud and one count each of money laundering and conspiracy to commit fraud.

Vincentians may have heard the name William Wise. According to media reports, he operated Millennium Bank right here in St. Vincent but US authorities allege it was a front for a Ponzi scheme. The indictment charges that Millennium promised investors a 16 percent return on certificates of deposit, but Wise and a California woman used investors’ money to repay earlier investors and fund lavish lifestyles for themselves.

The indictment alleges that Millennium sold close to $130 million in  the fraudulent certificates of deposit between January 2004 and March  2009, and that investors lost more than $75 million.

This story appears to be one that could be likened onto the Allan Sanford Saga. Thus, many persons are quick to dismiss it as just another American capitalist whose greed got the better of him. However, there is information to suggest that the Governor General of this country, Sir Frederick Ballantyne may have been an integral part of Millenium Bank. Indeed, reports are that Wise is spilling the beans and several persons in SVG of high status and position could be called upon to account since they too have benefited from the activities of William Wise.

Vinci Kallaloo will continue to investigate and report accordingly.

Good move: Eustace dumps the rattle snake by Lesli Patterson

Anesia Baptiste

Last year, I wrote an article for this blog, entitled:” The Three Most Dangerous People in the NDP”.  At that time, I singled out Linton Lewis, St. Clair Leacock and Anesia Baptiste. Do a search of the site and find the article and read it again if you may.  This is what I said about Anesia Baptiste:

This lady is a dictator in the making. She is not yet elected to an office but her arrogance knows no bounds. Yes, she is charming, beautiful and intelligent. But, her thirst for power is frightening. As she goes about her quest, Ms Baptiste leaves several enemies in her wake. Woe be unto them if Anesia and he party ever get into power.

Apparently, Arnhim Eustace has finally come to the realization that he had a rattle snake on his hands. Dumping Anesia from parliament and expelling her from the party is an excellent tactical move.

Not easy being gay in St. Vincent! Part 1

My Partner and I

My Partner and I

I am gay and I am a Vincentian. Since I have discovered and accepted my sexuality, life has been extremely difficult for me and my partner of seven years. It is not at all easy for a so called “buller man” in a backward country like St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

I am an ordinary, decent and law abiding citizen. I am a hard working professional who pays his fair share of taxes and contributes positively to the development of this country. Yet, I am treated like an outcast all because of my sexual preference.

As a teenager my father spat on me; he kicked me out of his house and severed all ties with me when he heard that I was “bulling”. I must thank my grand mother for rescuing me from the streets. I have had to put up with taunting and name calling; I lived with threats and intimidation; I was treated like the lowest of the low for a situation I could not help at all. I was an outcast for being a homosexual.

Thank God I survive! Not only that, I am liberated! I have shed the guilt and shame that burdened me for years. I earn a good income doing a job I love and I have been in a committed relationship with one partner whom I love dearly for nearly seven years. My life is not perfect but it’s getting there.

If you allow me, I would like to use this blog to share with the world, my experiences as a “buller man” in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
